Certification Programs

HFMA's certification programs lead to the designation Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) and Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA).  Meeting the HFMA certification requirements helps prepare you for increasingly responsible positions in the healthcare industry and demonstrates your dedication to professional development and a higher standing.

Why get certified?  Research indicates that there is a clear relationship between certification and career advancement.  Certified members of HFMA earn a higher annual salary, are more likely to be hired for upper-level positions in healthcare finance, are promoted faster, and are respected members of the healthcare leadership team.

The Sunflower Chapter has committed their resources to support certification.  Two complete sets of study courses have been ordered and can be checked out by contacting Rebecca L. Newton at 316 804-6014 or becky.newton@newmedctr.org or Elgin J. Glanzer at 785 263-6614 or eglanzer@MHSKS.org.  Certification guides can be checked out by interested members for 3 months on first come, first serve basis.

Also the chapter has a policy to reimburse certification expenses up to $500 for individuals who seek certification.  Reimbursement requests should be submitted to Rebecca L. Newton at Newton Medical Center, 600 Medical Center Dr, Newton, Kansas 67114-8780. Approved proctors for the Sunflower Chapter of HFMA are listed below:
